The Not So Little Things

a small project that makes a big impact

Happy fall everyone!!

Recently, I have been itching to take some time to focus on some details around the house that may seem little, but really make a huge difference in a space.

Our home was built in the 80s and as much as I love it, unlike most things in my life, I really wish it was a bit older than it is. One of my goals in designing each room is to slowly add touches that make it feel like a home that was built in the 50s.

Before this home, we were in a rental home that was built in 1952. It was full of so much character (link to photos of that home here) One thing that older homes have that I long for now are big beautiful wood doors with gorgeous hardware. One thing that we have lost as time has gone by is quality. These days, doors are incredibly light, and the hardware is very cheap. To help ease my pain, a pretty easy fix is to change the hardware to something higher quality with more character!

The front door is the first thing people see before they ever enter a home.

I knew I wanted this to be my #1 priority when considering which hardware to change first.

I have had my eye on Nostalgic Warehouse for years now. The quality and silhouettes of their products are unmatched from anything else I have found. Even the name “Nostalgic Warehouse” is exactly the energy I am going for when designing our home.

These before photos are from last fall. You can see how badly we needed a refresh.

The name is the New York Handleset. Love the name. Love the brass. So timeless. So classic. 10/10. No notes.

Of course the inside is just as stunning as the outside..

Another room in the house that has been bothering me are these beautiful French doors we have in our dining room. As much as I love them, the hardware made them feel so cheap and basic.

Let’s please take a moment of silence for the gorgeousness!!

I am so incredibly in love with these! I will definitely be incorporating them in the rest of our home.

In conclusion, I think it is fair to say that sometimes the best thing you can do for a space is focus on the little things..

All the hardware sets are linked on the photos of this post and as always you can shop our home on my ShopMy.
